Tell us about yourself.
I am coming up on 30 years with DIFI. I currently serve as the Assistant Director of the Market Regulation and Consumer Services Division which includes oversight of Market Conduct, Consumer Complaints (insurance and financial institutions), and Health Care Appeals. Not every day results in dollar wins but providing consumer education and walking away at the end of the day knowing we did that best we could, is the best advice I can provide my staff. Personally, I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, and our two dogs. I enjoy cooking, gardening, hiking, baseball, and spending time outdoors.
How long have you been a member of IRES?
Over 15 years.
What made you get involved as a State Chair.
I inherited the position from a retiring colleague and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity, as it marked my first involvement with IRES. This role allowed me to connect and collaborate with professionals from across the country, broadening my perspective and deepening my understanding of the organization. Through this experience, I became more familiar with the various committees and the important work they each contribute. In addition to serving as State Chair for Arizona, I have also served as Chair of the Education Committee and currently serve as Chair of the Publications Committee. I am also a member of both the Board and the Executive Committee.
Do you have any advice for new IRES members to make the most out of their membership?
I know it’s been said before, but it’s worth repeating—get involved. Join a committee and don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. Attending a Career Development Seminar (“CDS”) is incredibly valuable—not just for the educational sessions, but for the networking opportunities as well. It’s a fantastic way to meet colleagues, share ideas, ask questions, and maybe even spark new friendships.
