President's Remarks - Fall 2024

Happy Fall Everyone!  I hope everyone is doing well since we were all together in Florida at the CDS Conference. On a personal note, my first Grandchild, Collins Leigh Crow, arrived on August 15th. She is an absolute joy, and we spend as much time with her as we can.  After having sons, I am so excited to buy all the girl clothes I can get my hands on!  I’m sure many of you can relate.

Now, for the business at hand.  As you know, I became President during the CDS Conference. What many of you may not recall is that I was the IRES President in 2020-2021 too. That year, which we cannot easily forget, was mostly working with the Meetings and Elections Committee to get all the hotel contracts for the recent CDS conferences moved around. Looking back at that timeframe and the years since, I am and proud of the work the prior Presidents and Committee Leaders accomplished during those challenging years.

I am excited to be the IRES President for a second time and want to take a moment to introduce you to the members of the Executive Committee:

  • Mary Nugent- Accreditation & Ethics Committee

  • Christopher Heisler- Budget & Finance Committee

  • Craig Leonard- CDS Committee

  • Robert McManus- Education Committee

  • Shelly Schuman- MCM/AMCM Committee

  • Chrystal Bartuska- Meetings & Elections Committee

  • Brett Bache- Membership & Benefits Committee

  • Maria Ailor- Publications Committee

I am excited to work with these dedicated committee leaders as we are moving forward this year. If you are interested in volunteering to be on one or maybe two of these committees, please let us know. The door is always open for you to join a committee!

I hope you are enjoying the new IRES website! The Board made the decision to approve a new website and the redesign took place earlier this year. We are very proud of the new and updated IRES website. We do understand that with the change of the website, the Regulator is in a new format. With every decision there are always pros and cons, and the Board discussed these in length; however, the pros of a new website outweighed the cons. Even though this is a new format, the excellence of information remains the same!

It is hard to believe that 2025 is right around the corner; however, it is never too early to mark your calendar for the 2025 CDS in Houston. The dates are from July 27-29th at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.  More details to follow!

Additionally, I would like to mention the IRES Foundation National School on Market Regulation is from April 6-8, 2025, in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort. Registration is open for this event and visit the IRES Foundation website for more information.

Finally, I want to thank all our members for the continued support of IRES and all our events. Please be on the lookout for emails for our upcoming webinars and education programs and visit the website for the most current and up-to-date information.

I wish each and everyone of you a blessed and happy holiday season!
