THOMAS L. REENTS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Candidates for the Thomas L. Reents Memorial Scholarship of the Year must:

  • Applicants must be current employees of a state insurance department with less than five (5) years of service in their present role as of January 1st of the award year.

  • Candidates should demonstrate outstanding potential and professionalism in fulfilling their responsibilities as state regulators.

  • Individuals are expected to actively pursue skill development by completing training programs offered by recognized institutional providers in the insurance industry, such as The Institutes, The American College, LOMA, and the NAIC.

  • Applicants must also hold a current General membership with IRES.

Intended Use of this Scholarship

Event Selection Required

Indicate the IRES courses, seminars, or other learning events to which you plan to apply scholarship funds, if awarded. The scholarship must be used within the year it is awarded.

Letter of Recommendation

A letter of recommendation from your commissioner, director, or superintendent is required.

The letter must be addressed to the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society, 10340 Democracy Lane, Suite 300, Fairfax, Virginia 22030 and uploaded here in PDF format.
