Committee Opportunities

Accreditation & Ethics Committee

The Accreditation & Ethics Committee works in cooperation with the Education Committee to design or update curriculum for the AIE and CIE professional designations. They are responsible for reviewing, updating and implementing a code of professional standards and ethics for IRES members and investigate any allegations of violations of this code. This committee also designs and implements the mandatory continuing education program for members holding IRES professional designations.

Curriculum Subcommittee
A subcommittee of the Accreditation & Ethics Committee, the Curriculum Subcommittee is responsible for proactively updating the AIE-CIE curriculum to stay current with latest insurance trends and attract new IRES members.

Continuing Education Subcommittee
A subcommittee of the Accreditation & Ethics Committee, the Continuing Education Subcommittee is responsible for proactively updating the AIE-CIE continuing education requirements.

MCM Subcommittee
A subcommittee of the Accreditation & Ethics Committee, the MCM program Subcommittee is developing a program to train and certify market conduct personnel in the best practices of conducting market conduct exams. The MCM program is the first training program written and designed specifically for the Market Conduct regulatory and examination process. It is the first supplement to the AIE and CIE designations, which hopefully will be followed by supplements in other areas of interest to our membership.

Technology Subcommittee
A subcommittee of the Accreditation & Ethics Committee, the Technology Subcommittee promotes the use of technology to assist the continuing education needs of IRES members and other technology needs of the Accreditation & Ethics Committee.

Budget & Finance Committee

The Budget & Finance Committee's role is to maintain the financial solvency of IRES by facilitating effective financial operations. In addition to creating, maintaining and balancing the budget, the Committee works to maximize the investment income of the Society in a safe and effective manner. If you are a financial examiner or just like to work with numbers, consider volunteering to help the Budget & Finance Committee. Education Committee

The Education Committee has overall responsibility for planning and executing the annual Career Development Seminar (CDS). They also determine the subject matter for any other educational seminars that are sponsored by IRES. This committee works in partnership with the Accreditation and Ethics Committee on revisions to the AIE and CIE designation programs as well as creating new educational opportunities for members. The Education Committee also acts as the liaison between the NAIC and other professional societies on matters related to member education. The Committee accomplishes its work related to the CDS via the Career Development Seminar (CDS) Subcommittee.

Career Development Seminar (CDS) Subcommittee
A subcommittee of the Education Committee, The Career Development Seminar subcommittee is responsible for coordinating and executing the annual Career Development Seminar. It is comprised of ad-hoc committees that plan and implement the breakout sessions for each of the focus tracks of CDS.

Whether you are a fraud investigator, a policy and/or rate analyst, a complaint handler, a financial analyst and/or examiner, market conduct analyst and/or field examiner, involved in producer licensing, an actuary or an attorney, you and your peers can benefit from continuing education. Meetings & Elections Committee

The Meetings & Elections Committee establishes the rules and procedures for elections and member voting for the IRES Board of Directors and supervises the election process. They are responsible for presiding over the elections at IRES's annual meeting held at the Career Development Seminar (CDS). This committee is also responsible for the selection of sites for CDS and other Society meetings.

Election Audit Subcommittee
A subcommittee of the Meetings & Elections Committee, The Election Audit Subcommittee is responsible for overseeing the Society's annual Board of Directors Election, including conducting an audit of the election results.

Membership & Benefits Committee

The Membership & Benefits Committee is responsible for recruiting new members, reviewing applications for membership and making recommendations to the Board of Directors, as well as maintaining communication with IRES members and enhancing the reputation of IRES with members and the public. The Committee also maintains the records for IRES State Chairs and develops methods of effectively communicating the unique benefits of IRES membership. This committee has several subcommittees to focus on the unique responsibilities of this group.

Al Greer Award Subcommittee
The Al Greer Award Subcommittee promotes awareness and recognition of the prestigious Al Greer Award. This award is presented annually to an IRES member who works tirelessly to promote excellence in insurance regulation and sets a high precedent in their profession. The recipient of the Al Greer Award must be an IRES member of good standing for 5 years and a regulator for 10 years. The Subcommittee solicits nominees until April 30 of each year. The nominations are then reviewed to ensure minimum requirements are met and forwarded to the IRES Membership Committee for voting and determination of the Al Greer Award recipient. The Subcommittee is generally responsible for ensuring that the award is promoted, nominations are generated and reviewed, and overall implementation of the approved procedures.

State Chairs Subcommittee
The State Chairs Subcommittee creates and maintains a database of individuals serving as State Chair. Helps to promote the State Chair position and find replacements for State Chairs upon their departure. Additionally, this Subcommittee develops and maintains the State Chair handbook and provides support to State Chairs.

General Membership Subcommittee
The General Membership Subcommittee promotes growth and awareness in the Society. They are in charge of designing and running the annual membership drive, and finding new ways to encourage current members to recruit new members to IRES.

Sustaining Membership Subcommittee
The Sustaining Membership Subcommittee is responsible for retaining and growing the Sustaining Membership base of the Society by seeking ways to increase and enhance Sustaining Membership.

Member Benefits Subcommittee
The Member Benefits Subcommittee finds new innovative benefits to offer IRES Members to enhance their membership. Also, searches for discounts on products and services that may be of interest to members, such as educational discounts and travel discounts.

Social Events Subcommittee
The Social Event subcommittee generates creative and enjoyable social events for IRES members that attend the annual CDS. The group outings or events allow the members the opportunity to get to know each other better in a casual social setting on a personal basis.

Publications Committee

The Publications Committee is responsible for overseeing and editing the IRES newsletter, The Regulator, and any IRES sponsored publications. The Committee also establishes methods to publicize various IRES activities and approves the distribution of information sent to the entire membership in broadcast e-mail messages. If you are a grammatical wizard, can spot a typo in record time, or are just plain good at reading and writing, we need your expertise on the Publications Committee. Website Subcommittee
The Website Subcommittee maintains and updates the IRES Website. It reviews the IRES Website to ensure the content is current and accurate. They also generate and implement ideas that keep the website an effective and informative tool for both public visitors and members of IRES.
