The 2008 CDS will kick off on the evening of Sunday, August 10th with an opportunity to socialize and network with colleagues during the welcome reception.
Monday, August 11th will begin with a welcome greeting from Missouri Insurance Director Douglas M. Ommen, followed by a conferment ceremony honoring IRES members who have earned their AIE, CIE and MCM designations over the last year. After the conferment ceremony, NAIC President and Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger and Director Ommen will lead the traditional Commissioners Roundtable where the Commissioners will provide their view on a variety of major regulatory issues. Commissioner Praeger will also be the keynote speaker during the Monday luncheon. In addition, the Schrader-Nelson Publications Award and the Al Greer Award will also be presented at the luncheon.
Tuesday, August 12th will start by Facing Change with Humor & Optimism as CDS attendees hear from Award-winning comedian and author on humor & business Doni Tamblyn. Ms. Tamblyn has shown organizations around the world how to use humor and creativity to produce serious bottom-line results. She is an author, speaker, trainer, comedian, singer, former commercial actor, and president of the consulting firm HumorRules, for over a decade. During the luncheon on Tuesday, IRES will hold its annual meeting, announce the results of the IRES Board elections, and hear a report from IRES President Polly Y. Chan, and remarks from President-elect Jo A. LeDuc.
The CDS will also feature a variety of breakout sessions covering a wide range of topics. Below is a list of the breakout session categories and the joint sessions for the 2008 CDS. Click on the areas that interest you the most to find out more about what is planned for the 2008 CDS.
If all of that isn’t enough, the IRES Membership & Benefits Committee is working on putting together an extra curricular activity for Monday night. Once the details of the outing have been finalized, IRES will e-mail the details to our members and post them to the website.
